The Wollaston Consort play music by Vinci, Quantz, Blavet, Haydn and Couperin.
The Wollaston Consort (Julie Harmer – flute, Peter Clayton, harpsichord) has been performing regularly since 2008. Based in North East Essex, they have given recitals in many local churches and further afield in Suffolk. The name was inspired by a painting in Christchurch Mansion in Ipswich. It beautifully depicts Colonel William Wollaston (1731-1797) who was a (flute playing) MP for Ipswich between 1768 and 1784.
Julie Harmer – M.Sc., B.Mus (Hons), LRSM, – works in IT whilst continuing to be a very active musician. In addition to flute playing she also leads a church and community choir at All Saints’ Church, Great Oakley.
Peter Clayton – M.Phil, B.A. (Hons), LRAM. Since retiring from teaching, Peter concentrates on violin making and repair, and keyboard playing. He is organist at Thorrington church, and plays continuo with Ipswich Choral Society and Essex Baroque Orchestra
