The Harwich Festival 2015 opens on Wednesday June 24th. The theme this year is Leading Lights and light will play an important part in the schedule for this event.
The evening starts at 7.30 when the galleries of the Art Quarter open for the first time. There will be an opportunity to view the exhibitions entitled ‘Eastern Light’ at the Old Bank Studios and ‘Young, Emerging and Outsider Artists’ at the 1912 Centre as well as paintings by the Dutch artist Piet Mulder at the High Lighthouse and works by the gallery artists at Bodgeners Gallery. If there isn’t time to fit in all this wealth of visual arts on this evening all of these galleries will be open throughout the festival.
At 8.30 focus shifts to the LV18 lightship from which the Tendring Brass Band will play a programme of music including Henry Wood’s rousing Fantasia on British Sea Songs. As dusk falls the evening will be rounded off by a spectacular light show on board the LV18.
