HOWLETTS SUPPORTS FESTIVAL ‘BIKE-ART’ PROJECT
Diana Burrell, the Artistic Director of the Harwich Festival of the Arts says ‘We are delighted that Howletts are helping us by giving us some of their redundant bits of bike for our ‘Bike-art’ project. We will be painting and re-assembling parts of bicycles in unusual ways to make ‘artworks’ which we will place in unexpected places throughout the town during the festival period. This links with the opening event of the Festival which is a performance of Mauricio Kagel’s ‘Eine Brise’ featuring 111 cyclists riding through Harwich whistling and ringing bells.’
Howletts shop was used for the launch of this year’s festival leaflet. The eye catching design gives details of over 50 events taking place during the Festival from Wed. June 25th to Sun. July 6th. It will be distributed in many of the town’s shops. Diana said how grateful the Festival was to the many shopkeepers who help by displaying the leaflets.
