The Harwich Festival is pleased to announce the return of the 20cm x 20cm Open Exhibition – Back by popular demand.

The Exhibition was devised by Andy Howell in 2016 and has proven to be so popular it has run every year since attracting and displaying more than 1500 submissions in the process.

Roger Hamer – chairman of the Harwich Festival Visual Arts Panel said that the exhibition ‘has proved to be hugely popular because it is completely open, there is no selection! In the past we have had paintings by professional artists being hung next to pieces by budding draftspersons of the great age of three.  Some contributors have said that they used the 20cm by 20cm format to experiment with compositions or techniques before creating larger works. Others like it because the size isn’t daunting and they feel they can do anything. We have had embroidered pieces, constructions, prints, photographs, action paintings, collages, poems and many other creations. Many visitors commented that they were amazed at the imaginative creativity of the exhibitors. Now it’s your turn to have a go! Look up the Harwich Festival website and find out the details. There is plenty of time, they don’t have to be delivered until the second week in June. It will only cost you £1.00 per each entry and you can do as many as you like. Remember, “True creativity comes out of sheer play” so enjoy yourselves.

The Exhibition will run as part of this years Harwich Festival – taking place between the 20th – 30th June.

Submissions can be made at the Harwich Box Office at Harwich Library between the 8th and 15th June.
