Essex Rocks was formed in 2005 by Chris Berwick and Michael Offord as a social media campaign designed to promote the regional unsigned music scene. After trying their hand at organising live events, Essex Rocks soon developed a reputation as one of the most exciting Promoters of unsigned music in the region – Twice winning the Panic Award for Best independent Promoters after successfully running a number of sell out shows across the county.
The Harwich Festival is working in partnership with Essex Rocks to help provide opportunities for regional talent and promote Live Music in Harwich and beyond. Essex Rocks will run a number of live music events in Harwich and Colchester – culminating with the unsigned live music festival that will take place during ‘Beside the Seaside’ Sea and Beach Festival on the 13th August 2017.
in 2020 Essex Rocks have again teamed up with the Harwich Festival to develop the Arts Council Funded Grass Roots Live Music Project – which aims to develop the HAHC as a live music venue.
Due to the Covid 19 Emergency the project has started online via the HAHC Facebook page with weekly events.
