“Postcards from Crouch End”
Sam will be performing a selection of music from his critically acclaimed new album,“Postcards from Crouch End” featuring pieces inspired by places as far afield as Columbia, Japan and of course Crouch End.
We are delighted that Sam will be joined by Louise Garner on flute for several of the pieces in this performance.
Sam Piha studied classical guitar at music college in London before establishing himself as a successful and much sought after solo performer, entertaining audiences from very small concert halls to very large outdoor music festivals. He formed various successful and popular ensembles, playing a wide range of musical styles, including being a founder member of the internationally known Celtic band “Easy Street”.
Sam is also a prolific composer and arranger, including songs for stage productions, themes for BBC radio programmes and a piece that was named record of the week on Lyric FM in Ireland.
His performance of his own special arrangement of “Malaguena” was used in the film “Joy” starring Robert De Nero, Jennifer Lawrence and Isabella Rossellini.
Louise Garner began her playing career at the age of five when her brother taught her to play the recorder. She quickly went through the whole recorder family and changed to the flute when she was eleven years old. At this time she was offered a dancing scholarship but chose instead to specialise in music.
Early performances were with the local youth orchestra but as a professional, Louise has specialised in solo performances and small ensemble work.
Louise has been performing with Sam for over fifteen years and together they developed a hugely popular cabaret show, “Aviva”. She is also a member of the Celtic band ‘Easy Street’.
Sam and Louise delight audiences all over the world with their entertaining programmes of captivating music.
