Diana Burrell Biography
Diana Burrell has a catalogue of nearly 100 works in many different genres from string quartets to chamber ensemble pieces, choral works, opera and orchestral pieces including four concerti. Recent pieces include ‘ Concerto for Violin with Singer and 3 Ensembles’ performed in Christ Church Spitalfields as part of the 2009 Spitalfields Festival, by David Alberman, Lore Lixenberg and Gregory Rose conducting the Trinity College of Music Contemporary Music Group, and ‘The Hours’ – a major cycle of pieces for organ and various ensembles, premiered in October 2011 in St. Marylebone Church, London by musicians from the Royal Academy of Music, conducted by Jonathan Mann.Two other new works await their first performances; ‘Phos’ for organ, cello and percussion commissioned by the American Guild of Organists for their convention in Nashville, Tennessee in July 2012, and ‘ Hymn of the Evening’, a commission for the ‘Choirbook for the Queen’ – an anthology of new choral pieces to celebrate the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee.

Diana Burrell - Artistic Director
Diana lives in Harwich, Essex and is much involved in local musical life as Artistic Director of the Harwich Festival. She is also the organist of Our Lady Queen of Heaven catholic church. When not working she is often to be found walking over the salt marshes near where she lives, or bird-watching on the Stour Estuary.
